Architecture

As expected of any powerful ruler Christian IV surrounded himself with meaningful pomp and circumstance. Frederiksborg Castle, which was build in the beginning of the 17th century, is a magnificent example of the high artistic quality that characterized his building activities. As a means of signaling royal dignity, power and wealth he decorated and furnished the castle with all the sumptuousness and beauty a king could possibly wish for.
